- Offer reduced or waived tuition for our comprehensive (5 day a week) afterschool programs, providing necessary and meaningful care for working parents.
- Provide free or low-cost “in-school field trips”, especially our unique STEAM-based enrichment workshops supporting each of NYC’s PreK curriculum units
- Expand programming to new audiences, such as working with social service partners to provide small group arts classes designed to help young children process trauma.
- Partner with stakeholders in the community to provide public programs and events.
Letter from the Executive DirectorHello friends!
I'm Caroline, Executive Director of Bitty City. When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, it turned a lot of great plans upside down, ours among them. As our programming moved out (of the classroom), I found myself looking inwards. I asked Olivia the Owl (there weren't a lot of folks around to talk to) - and my teachers and community, including many of you - about the core values of our work. I meditated on what is meaningful to us as educators and as human beings. And I wondered how to make some lemonade out of these pandemic lemons. Our answer, so far, is that we want to provide programming that is accessible. We want Bitty City to be a resource for young children of NYC and their families and teachers, especially those who have limited access to enrichment opportunities. So we are starting a nonprofit! Read more... Our Board of Directors Meet Mike- our Board Vice president and Treasurer. He is a successful entrepreneur and self-described “problem-solving enthusiast” with skills in mechanical and software design. After receiving a B.A., B.S. from Columbia University in Astrophysics and Mechanical Engineering, Michael went on to a successful career in fintech and consulting in New York City.
He is a loving father and is committed to Bitty City Explorers' mission to help provide accessible afterschool care to all creative young minds in a safe and nurturing environment. Meet Ingrid- our Board Secretary. She has devoted her career to nonprofit arts and arts education development and early childhood education. For the past 7 years, she has been at Arts for Learning Maryland, formerly known as Young Audiences. She spent 6 years fundraising both from individual and foundational sources, raising over $1.4M during her time as a Grants and Annual Fund Manager and an Individual Giving Manager. Ingrid earned her BA in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, with a German minor, from Goucher College. She has over a decade of experience working with young children, including leading and creating arts curricula for early childhood afterschool programs.

Bitty City Explorers partners with local schools and community organizations to provide resources for young students in underserved neighborhoods, facing the challenges of a post-pandemic world.
